Hieroglyphs To Holograms

You were once a small child
With paper and crayon
Cacophony’s of colours
Scribbles so crazily drawn.

Then Mummies and Daddies
Crafted with circles and lines.
Soon squiggles of sunbursts
Your world produced in design.

Princes and princesses
Flashy flowers on the moon.
A glimpse of imagining
A child’s dreams in cartoon.

Illusions of spirals
Sophistication of style.
A mind in awakening
Creating art also tactile.

Definitions of shade
Pencil, paintbrush, and pen.
Astounding refinement
A babe leaving the den.

Inventions and visions
Digitising maps of the skies.
Discovering new vistas
Fresh frontiers as the prize.

Technology projects.
Scheming trips to the stars.
For you are the future,
That’s how special you are.

Thank you Connie. I enjoyed this one and remembering the kids as they were growing up (well mostly lol). 12 and 14 now so there was a bit of speculation on what they might become as well. : )

What a beautiful chronicle of a child's growth, Mark. Very special. I enjoyed it. Thanks for your lovely visit to my poem about my daughter. Hugs

Thank you Eileen, I hope it's a story that any parent can relate to, it could apply to either of my daughters. I'm not sure it is concrete enough for the contest but I like it regardless.

Welcome back to the Hotel California. lol : ). Funnily enough I want to write but I think I'm pushing it back because at the same time it will be an admission of failure. My time writing may soon increase if I relinquish my farming interests due to a nasty drought we are experiencing. In the meantime I've got to fight for my first passion. : ) Pleased to see you have stayed.

GREAT thinking outside the box for this contest, my friend. I really like it. This is the future's child, making holograms for us all to enjoy!!

And hopefully a metaphor for the way civilization has developed as well, in a way that everyone can associate with. My daughters are very artistic, so because I'm so definitely not, it absolutely fascinates me. Thats where the idea come from.
