Hideous Creature

 
The leaves of red and yellow are falling,
in the trees the wind is sobbing;
and on doors Halloween kids are knocking,
a trick or treat they are wanting !

Little kids costumes are cute and darling,
but older kids are frightening;
some so real that I am left wondering,
could they be the real thing asking !

One hideous creature moved like lightning,
as I turned and started running;
then, the creature was whispering- kissing,
and my frantic screams silencing !
