HIDDEN FACTS
For years I never knew I had a big Brother
I always thought I was the only child
Family secrets I needed to hear, but never got
Everyone in the family knew about it but me
Forbidden paths
Heaven knew, but me
A piece of my life hidden
Somehow stored in a treasure chest in never to find out
Grand Mother was at her death bed, and she stated she needed to tell me something
I had no idea what it was nor what she was actually going to say
She just stated, “I have a brother”
You can imagine my surprise
My mind relished on lies
I told my Grand Mother on why did she wait until now to tell me
She replied, “She wasn’t sure how I was going to take the news
How do you think I felt at that moment?
Felt betrayed, lied to and a family out cast
It seemed I was separated from family in not being part of the family
My life seemed to be a mystery with whatever lies still remained
I know my Grand Mother mean well, but why wait until her death?
All I could do was ponder
I was beyond mad, and couldn’t cry
My big brother was born years before me, and I would be his baby brother
There would be much I would have to say go him, but nothing is fault
The introduction would be hard to explain since he was in foster care
He became a Medical Doctor
The family would have a doctor in the house
However, he is not in my house since I don’t feel like I am part of the family
Pondering moment
Why the secret?
We never grew up together
Family disrespect comes to mine as I should have been told first hand
I take it being ashamed of me in what I accomplished feeling like a failure
I didn’t become a doctor, but achieved in life in what I was meant to accomplish
Life goes on, and hidden facts can’t stop me from living
The circumstance is what it is
I am a moving torch with life shining bright.
