Hey You

Hey you! Yes you Can you see our protest banners? They are inspired by your poor manners You've created an impression with your couture You've shamelessly raided religion and culture Recruiting from scholars and pilgrims Fanatics who praise you with shouts and screams Here you are looking all decent and astute Armed with a jaw dropping loot Your ear bent to "subjects" as their sire And for a morsel, following you like a messiah. Be easy in this republic The cycles are truly cyclic You won't be around next season So in this one, employ some reason Those who now bow will soon betray The song, dance and quite now in array Will find new recipients As terms are transient. Be wise and build yourself a good name I mean a reputation, not hot air fame And soon history will be kind To see you as a relic memory could find.
