Heroes and Villains

A hero is a villain
to the side that just got beat.
Great futbol heroes score big goals,
most use their head or feet.

Brian, thank you for your comment. I just now replied in a Soup mail. You are right about the women's soccer/football side bringing the U.S. much more success than the men.

Sadly no official var then John in soccer, pity that he marred his talent by this ever remembered 'goal' otherwise he was as unque as (as a dribbler)the one&only Stan Mathews of the 40/50's who I did see play just the once in 1953.Have you ever seen live any of you sporting greats?

As you are no doubt aware, the sport is not nearly as popular in the US as everywhere else. My city doesn't have a team, so the only chance to see it live is at the college level. I have seen him televised. I envy you seeing Stan Mathews live when you were young. Must have made a big impression. Thanks for the comment, Brian. I didn't know you were a fan of the beautiful game. ~ John

John, thanks for participating in my contest and congrats on your placement. You beautifully captured Maradona's contributions to soccer and very wittily referred to his hand of God goal without mentioning it. Best. Mohan
