Hero

I do not sleep. I maintain my awakeness surrounded in a room of comic books. I search for a hero, a savior, a guiding light that can lead me through my darkest hours. The most books I have are of Captain America He fights with his shield, man of freedom. Though my gravity is towards Hellboy as I'm destined for Hell and he's made his own journey or two to the feisty world. Deadpool, Wolverine, Doctor Strange they comfort me along with Ghost Rider Moon Knight, Godzilla, Lobster Johnson are all there too. But who stands above the rest? Which comic book character is my hero? Or should I be looking at my bibles and Jesus Christ? Batman, Silver Surfer and even James Bond... can they tell the stories I need to hear? Spiderman, Daredevil, Marauders, they seem to talk to me. Thor, Loki, Superman... their books I read and sometimes just peruse through But I think my hero is Carnage Supervillian that's a symbiote. He keeps me widely entertained!

Love your heroes, Robert James. Loved some heroes myself, then forgotten many of them. But we've all enjoyed comics (well, most of us, I guess - and I here in the UK). Thanks for an entertainment.

Robert, wonderful poem, I was never interested very much in comics until your contests and now, well after researching Captain America and Dr. Strange I am hooked. There is a great comic store near me, buy and sell type of store with thousands of comics, I really do see the fascination, and the art work on the covers and within is terrific too ~

Yes, sometimes I feel that viewing just one or two of the images is worth the price of the comic itself! The artwork can be fantastic! Graphic novels work for me cause I cannot stay focused in a regular novel anymore so the pictures are a pleasant thing to have.
