Here's To Number 70

"60 for Old Age; 70 for White Hair" ~ Talmud, Avoth, Chapter 5 Not only am I old Now I'm all white Just don't go picking on me I can still give you a fight For at age 60 I felt young And 70 is energy Why, I can recite the whole alphabet All the way up to D... So here's to my 70th birthday A truly frightening occasion Thank God it's Shavu'oth* ~ Reason for celebration *Shavu'oth, the Festival of Weeks, is sometimes referred to as the Pentecost. Shavuo'th starts tonight, May 28, 2020, also the date of my birthday.

Gershon, Birthday in seventy and festival in seven both a celebration of life in observance of the Mitzvot. There's still so much to be learned. -Richard

Thanks for the wishes and the sharp observation. I honestly hadn't thought of my birthday as a multiple of the seven weeks of Shavu'oth. Thanks a million. Cheers, Gershon

They say 70 is the new 50....yeah, try telling that to my knees. It's just a number....a very big number..that alphabet must play havoc with an acrostic poem

The Bible says that hoary head is a sign of a righteous life. Enjoyed reading your work. Happy birthday. I wish you many more. I have turned 3/4 of a century old. My parents did not lack but 3 years to make it to a hundred. Sara

Ha, ha! I see by your photo that you have been very righteous. As for me, oh-oh... And given your parents legacy, you've got a long life ahead of you! Thanks, Sara. Best wishes, Gershon
