Here In The Midst Of Summer

Here in the midst of summer
surrounded by the lakeland feels
what glory to look out upon
makes one cry out to tell

There's a stillness in the air
so silent, one can hardly hear
the sun shines through the clouds
warms the air, listen in your ear

Often you feel like wandering
taking in all that's freshly new
this is a beautiful creation, you see
divinely born, you see right on cue

This is indeed a wonder of wonders
one has to be still to take it in
on the first day, when Adam fell
what God had made is marred by sin

Pray to be taken to that original
that first moment so real in time
when all was just perfectly sublime
dream on and feel it in its prime

(Just some thoughts spending in the English Lake District a few weeks ago.)

When we sit in the midst of nature, we are truly surrounded by God's love. Lovely poem, Gordon.

Aren't those moments spent in nature wonderful and refreshing opening the door to inspiration. I can't imagine what it must have been like to have been in that wonderful garden in the beginning before it was cursed with thorns, thistles, and all those weeds. I often wonder exactly did Adam do to tend the garden without all those weeds. Sara K

Lovely, uplifting and spirit filled message here in your poem, Gordon. It is so refreshing to hear these words and think upon that time when all was perfect between man and our Creator God. What a precious and pleasing thought. Thank you for sharing the thoughts of that moment with us through your meaningful and inspiring poetry, my friend. God's blessing be with you, Bill

Very lovely Gordon, I enjoyed reading your poem. Wow, you are right, the beauty marred by the fall of Adam and Eve, but beautiful. To think of Eden, in this shadow of the beauty that once was and again will someday be is a wonderful thought. Thank you for sharing moments of your tranquil trip to the lake in your beautiful poem. Very lovely.
