Notes About The Poem

Andrea's September Challenge Tritina Contest ~ 9/11/26

Heralds of the Storm

Darkness brewed over early morning skies
for not yet open were the eyes of Dawn.
Foreshadowed was the fast-approaching storm.

Thunder and lightning heralded the storm,
Rain laden Nimbus rushed across the skies,
Chosen was a graphite gown, donned by Dawn,

Rain washed were the silvered tresses of Dawn,
She brushed a tinge of blush after the storm
before greeting sunrise in pale pink skies.

Cloudy skies at Dawn were clear following the storm.

I always feel like a storm dear Linnersz, poetry mama, how beautiful is this poem, I am not Entirely a fan of this form. I did it However before for a contest! Yours flow so seamlessly in such elegance, and can see the soul-prints of an artist ~ a poetess, one that paints with passion! I cant help but Love “ She brushed a tinge of blush after the storm before greeting sunrise in pale pink skies.” Absolutely stunning Pleasure reading you today Sending you light always ~ 💋

I've always personified celestial bodies. I see the moon as a female and the sun as male who love each other, but they must remain distant lovers or the Earth would reach a catastrophic end. Dawn... I see her in love with the Sun, so she applies blush to her cheeks before the sun rises to see her. No pale skin for that little missy. She's quite jealous of the moon ya know and cannot wait for night to be over so she can spend the morning with her one true love. Sound a bit silly? 😊 Thanks for appreciating my poetry.

Dear Lin, quite an exquisite demonstration of classical form and metrical control! Writing a villanelle, or in this case, a beautifully tailored variant on a repeating end-word scheme, is notoriously difficult because the repeating rhymes can easily feel forced. Yet here, the movement from line to line feels as natural as the passing of the tempest itself. I think this is precise, beautifully balanced, and deeply evocative. Blessings, Daniel
