Her Hobby Is Collecting Men

Her hobby is collecting men And most of them will do The half-wit wonders out again Who take the scenic view Her beauty is expendable Her feelings even more Her duty is dependable To those who run the store She knows what lies that people say To keep them running late The notion that you lost your way Is redefined as fate She baits you with a compliment To boost your self respect But all the time she's diffident The way you might expect Another day, another chance Another attitude Another way to fake romance To satisfy a mood She stimulates your very best Like moonlight on the sea And you believe that you’re the crest Of capability You think that she is not opposed To someone nice like you But she is merely predisposed To catching someone new You know that she is bought and sold Your fantasy intact But as you let your dream unfold You catch her in the act Your fantasy is suddenly The one you denigrate The ecstasy that used to be Is now a twist of fate You justify the reason why You paid for love at all But love is not an alibi For why you came to call The smarter way is not to lay With someone you just met The righteous pray without delay For actions they regret The path you walk is brighter By the perfect light of love So make your burden lighter By the strength you draw above.

Hi Anne-Lise, Thank you for your thoughts. This poem was supposed to be about something else and ultimately got away from me. It is not meant to condone or condemn but just to spread a message of love, the right way of course. Thank you for your clarity.
