Her Fake Smiles
She had a smile more genuine than mine could ever be.
Her smiles lit up every darkened despairing room
She loved each of her friends and pushed their glows
She, to everyone she met, was a beautiful dark blue rose
A picture of impossible loyalty always and forever in bloom.
But no one saw that her smiles were simply fake
And so were the laughs that would usually break
All the sadness and tears and unending gloom.
She was happier than I ever could be.
But the happiest people truly hide the saddest secrets,
As we saw when we found her with a rope 'round her throat,
We all sobbed as we took her down and begged her to float;
To not drown in her unsaid and unheard regrets.
She'd wake soon to see us, begging for her forgiveness
For never bothering to see who she was within
For believing the deceiving and not looking beneath the skin.
Never again
Will we only see
What others pretend to be.
For all hide pain
That hide the key
To true friendship and bravery.
