Her Christmas Tree

I was suffocating in the crowded conifer forest, so, I decided once to celebrate Christmas alone outside in the hamlet not far away. In the fading hour of the Christmas eve with the moondust showering tinsels on me I walked out of the thicket on the faint track, crossed the snow covered rolling topography. At the thinned edge of the misty woods, an isolated old house I found stood in decay. Through the frosted window I saw in a cold room a little girl trying to make a green paper tree. I called her out to pluck from the surviving shrub some wild flowers to decorate me, while on me descended a star on snowflake. Later her mother found her asleep on the floor, the paper tree lying unfinished beside her. I left her with her dream to dream, that would one day come true, I knew.
