Heikki is a Finnish name, I am Finnish American, so I use that to describe Haikus. Plus Heikki Lunta is a snow God, a dance is named for him...the Heikki Lunta Snow Dance Song. (We aren't singing it this year, we sing it when we are short of snow)

Eek - I hope I never witness a rabid dog. So sad. This brings back memories of reading Cujo - you're last two words brought it all back into perspective. Rabies doesn't care about size.

Enjoyed reading your work..My father had a pair of beagle hounds when I was a child..One day when we went into to town to buy supplies the dogs came up missing..A neighbor said they saw a car stop at our home and load the dogs into their car..I am glad that I stopped by to read your work for it brought back memories..Sara

So sorry you lost your dogs, I vividly remember losing dogs as a child also and it was not fun. I am glad you had a happy time reading the poem!

I am sorry, I hunted rabbits with a friend's small beagles and they just go and go, I think they would go till they died. You actually have to collar them to get them to stop, and the snow was so deep. I was humbled by their work ethic.
