Heaven
”Heaven” *****. (Alleluia Poem 2, 7/1
In truth, I had felt the edge of Heaven, surely
Brought by the Holy Spirit upon
My wondering if it were possible
That Heaven exists
Outside of place — of any where —
Like song, or poetry, or mathematics,
And very like memories quite vivid,
But beyond the physical...however, this
Sensing of Heaven surrounding caught
Me searching the air around my bed and
Beyond the windows for floating glitter —
Ahh, so truly human...
Our Lord is within, —indeed, but also
As he creates it, is our sustaining atmosphere—
Within, without, yes, the All truly essential, has
Been here and unto heaven’s touch; yet,
Neither glitter nor vapor, and, notice there, how
Blown graphite will never settle on any contours
Of the omnipresent; nor any rhyming
Words wanting to paint the ineffable
Elation of a soul
Embraced and rising: Alleluia!
For a fledgling’s first glorious flight. Soar!
