''Heartbreaking Death''

 
I was with her when she left this earth
had been sitting by her bed (for days)
the curtains stirred and she gasped her last breath
it was 6-26-2015 and it was 7:43 pm
I felt an emptiness within my heart
an aching in my soul
the "death of a friend" is always hard
especially in one so young
cancer claims one more . . . 
the days passed so slow until the funeral
I recall standing at the door
there was a serenity with all the flowers
at the end 71 people had come to bid farewell
and 28 came to the cemetery
in a row of cars following a winding road

After weeks of taking care of her, I had left for a few minutes as her family sat waiting, as I stepped in, she passed.
