HEART THAT SEEKS THE LORD FROM BEING SPOILED
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against persecution
With His assurance of salvation
That is secured by His protection
Letting us strong midst sinfulness’ affliction.
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against sorrow
With His cheerfulness’ glow
That is available with His joy so thorough
Letting us glad midst uncertainty of tomorrow.
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against reproaches
With His truth of devotion-searches
That is ready every time His Word preaches
Letting us repentant midst correction as His reproof teaches.
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against hypocrisy
With His standard of service-fervency
That is achievable by His mercy
Letting us purposeful midst worldliness’ complacency.
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against barrenness
With His work of fruitfulness
That is productive by His faithfulness
Letting us diligent midst slothfulness’ destructiveness.
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against discouragement
With His exhortation of contentment-fulfillment
That is excellent by His commitment
Letting us dedicated midst backsliding’s enticement.
Our heart seeks the Lord from being spoiled against unbelief
With His wisdom of guidance giving ignorance-relief
That is perfect by His knowledge as Sovereign Chief
Letting us settled midst doubtfulness’ grief.
