HEART THAT RESTS IN THE LORD
Our heart rests in the Lord with His compassionate ways
Despite our sinfulness against His holy praise
Along our indulgence toward worldly plays
Since He forgives our confessed iniquities through His sanctification-grace.
Our heart rests in the Lord with His constant mercy
Despite our unfaithfulness against His helpful consistency
Along our laxity toward slothful complacency
Since He pardons our indolence through His conversion-clemency.
Our heart rests in the Lord with His disciplining chastisement
Despite our rebelliousness against His serene encouragement
Along our stubbornness toward wayward impairment
Since He corrects our disobedience through His admonition-involvement.
Our heart rests in the Lord with His delightful pleasure
Despite our negligence against His offered fellowship’s treasure
Along our preference toward humanistic leisure
Since He transforms our apathy through His kindness-pressure.
Our heart rests in the Lord with His guiding wisdom
Despite our foolishness against His heavenly kingdom
Along our ignorance toward doubt-filled boredom
Since He unchains our selfishness through His Bible truth-freedom.
Our heart rests in the Lord with His gentle care
Despite our hardheadedness against His watchful stare
Along our backsliding toward destructive nightmare
Since He pulls our downfall through His might-welfare.
Our heart rests in the Lord with His supreme authority
Despite our haughtiness against His dominion’s verity
Along our hypocrisy toward futile vanity
Since He delivers our arrogance through His leadership-majesty.
