HEART THAT PREPARES FOR THE SERVICE OF THE LORD
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we rejoice in His salvation
Against backsliding brought by sins’ abomination---
We praise Him and His gracious compassion
Over our worldly negotiation, causing transgression.
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we dwell in His perfect will
Against rebelling so that His assigned mission we can fulfill---
We exalt Him and His redeeming ransom-bill
Over our captured being that was freed by His sacrifice at Calvary’s hill.
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we go toward His righteousness
Against treading upon filthiness that brings spiritual weariness---
We cleave to Him and His sanctifying truthfulness
Over our bad attitudes needing His power of holiness.
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we hearken to His voice
Against scorning His instructions with arrogant poise---
We seek Him and His wisdom devoid of humanistic noise
Over our foolish deafness as He guards our choice.
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we glorify His name
Against taunting mockery of ignorance-flame---
We rely in Him and His steadfast trustworthiness-frame
Over our fear-filled doubts to vanquish timidity of a coward shame.
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we cling to His deliverance
Against attacking troubles with afflicting appearance---
We depend on Him and His wondrous assurance
Over our loathsome pride that should bow to humility’s forbearance.
Our heart prepares for the service of the Lord as we grow in His grace
Against staying immature along our selfish ways---
We abide in Him and in His Word through all our days
Over our insecurity while He assures our victory in running the Christian race.
