HEART THAT PERSEVERES TO FULFILL THE STATUTES OF THE LORD
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That smite our haughtiness
Through His ruling graciousness
To teach us genuine humbleness
Toward functional servanthood-meekness.
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That vanquish our anger
Through His loving touch with compassion’s finger
To shield us from bitterness-dagger
Toward helpful kindness that does divinely linger.
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That correct our ignorance
Through His upholding wisdom, full of truth’s assurance
To keep us from foolishness-endurance
Toward Biblical conviction’s performance and forbearance.
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That hinder our backsliding
Through His complete forgiveness that is iniquity-ridding
To embrace us within His mercy’s enfolding
Toward worshipful gratitude-attending.
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That pacify our discontentment
Through His abounding provisions’ bestowment
To satisfy us with heavenly fulfillment
Toward praise-moved commitment.
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That reprove our materialism
Through His eternal words outlasting earthly truism
To rebuke us and our vain humanism
Toward earnest service geared by divine optimism.
Our heart perseveres to fulfill the statutes of the Lord
That inspire our servanthood’s zest
Through His inerrant instruction and admonition that’s best
To encourage us for faithful stewardship against any test
Toward fruitful discipleship, making us truly blest.
