HEART THAT FINDS REFUGE IN THE LORD
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-righteousness
With His salvation’s holiness
That covers our confessed sinfulness by His forgiveness
While we give ourselves to His heart-sanctifying pureness.
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-pity
With His mercy’s bounty
That enhances our spiritual dignity
While we entrust ourselves to His soul-valuing verity.
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-interest
With His plan’s best
That vanquishes our esteemed pride’s pest
While we surrender ourselves to His ambition-checking test.
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-indulgence
With His control’s prevalence
That subdues our complaining persistence
While we submit ourselves to His faith-upholding permanence.
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-fulfillment
With His leadership’s engagement
That rebukes our worldly enjoyment
While we offer ourselves to His sacrifice-approving bestowment.
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-sufficiency
With His clemency’s excellency
That halts our materialistic tendency
While we bring ourselves to His contentment-satisfying constancy.
Our heart finds refuge in the Lord over us and our self-exaltation
With His humility’s function
That breaks our haughty disposition
While we yield ourselves to His life-transforming perfection.
