HEART THAT EXALTS GOD
Our heart exalts God with His grace
Letting us see His goodness along His kindness’ rays
Amidst busy days wearying faith-walking pace…
Now, we honour Him, giving our praise of worshipful ways.
Our heart exalts God with His holiness
Letting us fear His wrath over our unrighteousness
Amidst vain compromises of worldly worthlessness…
Now, we hide in Him, repenting from our shameful sinfulness.
Our heart exalts God with His provision
Letting us enjoy His bounty full of satisfaction
Amidst grievous complaints along scarcity’s vexation…
Now, we trust Him, confessing our discontented reaction.
Our heart exalts God with His guidance
Letting us obey His direction toward truth-assurance
Amidst chaotic situations because of confusing allegiance…
Now, we follow Him, subduing our skeptical arrogance.
Our heart exalts God with His mercy
Letting us rely on His ready, available clemency
Amidst serious threats of guilt needing pardon’s sufficiency…
Now, we seek Him, overcoming our doubts and lack of persistency.
Our heart exalts God with His wisdom
Letting us regard His work in advancing His kingdom
Amidst foolish opinions causing intellectual boredom…
Now, we cling to Him, turning from our humanistic freedom.
Our heart exalts God with His covenant
Letting us appreciate His faithfulness, sovereignly dominant
Amidst carnal accomplishments making us in His service, stagnant…
Now, we abide in Him, casting our cares as an earthly tenant.
