HEART THAT DOES NOT CHARGE GOD FOOLISHLY
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our distress
Since He alone can deliver us from sin-curses
To let us dwell in His peace-embraces…
Now, we come to His help’s forces.
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our sufferings
Since He alone can keep us from transgression-soarings
To bring us in His grace-nurturings…
Now, we walk toward His mercy’s rearings.
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our restlessness
Since He alone can quiet us in His peacefulness
To calm us down with His gentleness…
Now, we abide in His faithfulness.
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our falsity
Since He alone can forgive us from our confessed iniquity
To mold us through His instruction-certainty…
Now, we stay in His wisdom’s authority.
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our times of draining
Since He alone can guard us from deceit’s cunning
To uphold us by His sanctification-cleaning…
Now, we pursue through His winning.
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our arrogance
Since He alone can humble us from pride’s self-significance
To abase us by His deliverance…
Now, we submit to His mighty performance.
Our heart does not charge God foolishly in our misery
Since He alone can secure us from our vexation and worry
To transform us while we trust His promised victory…
Now, we triumph in His power as we serve Him for His glory.
