Devoted mother Loving wife Matriarch of our home Queen of the kitchen Mom used to always say She never met A recipe book she didn't like Six hungry mouths to feed Always up to the challenge Trying out new recipes Inspiring novelty and awe I remember her bedtime treat Was relaxing with a good book One brimming with mouthwatering delights Illustrations easily created in her head Intoxicating aromas as real as could be Falling asleep with grand dreams Of upcoming fabulous family meals No one could have guessed We were ever on a tight budget To this day Every time I’m even near a recipe book Like an irresistible magnet I feel the pulling at my heart strings AP: Honorable Mention 2021 Submitted on October 6, 2017 for contest CONTEST NO.40 sponsored by BRIAN STRAND
