Notes About The Poem

This piece is in my appreciation of Matthew Henry, Welch-English Theologian, 1662 - 1713, who said, “None so deaf as those who will not listen.”

Hearing Vs Listening

          Compassionate Comforter
          Messaging hope,
          Put faith in our Father
          Whenever He spoke.

          Those that would listen
          Are those who will hear
          The call to repentance,
          The need to draw near.

          Listen to the message
With words of new and old.
          Listen for understanding,
          Nourishment for the soul.

          Listen to the words,
          Hear them beckon - singing.
          Hear the Spirit calling,
          Offering new beginning.

          Sowers of hope
          Taken on faith,
          Receiving His harvest
          Of peace and His grace.
