I asked… when, Lord, when? when will I understand? when will my heart say amen? I asked… why, Lord, why? why can’t I see the light? why does my aching spirit cry? I asked… where, Lord, where? where is the meaning in this life? where is the faith and hope in prayer? I asked and He answered me hear the gentle in His truth His peace as I bow a knee. I asked and He sent me hope when nothing helped my soul, His gentle love helped me cope. I asked and He reminded me there are answers in His light, mercy healed me so I’m free. I asked… and the wind seemed to speak, a blessing, holy, as I seek it is His strength when I am weak… that reminds me, His love is free wherever I go, I sincerely believe there is One who goes with me – One who offers me the ultimate gift, salvation from the sin that afflicted, redemption, so I’m no longer adrift I live for the One who brought me light He is the answer to my darkest night He restores and makes everything right. I asked and He told me to listen as long as there’s love, He is with me like the stars, His light will always glisten – a promise that tells me, whatever ensues I have a hope that is filled with compassion I have a Savior and His love will not refuse. I know the One who changed my soul He encouraged me to listen to the love I know His grace has surely made me whole. So, with faith, I continue on this road Past the pain and grief, through the shadows Into the promise of always that bestowed… Love that comes from the One died and rose.
