He Touched Me

He kissed me and I thought of you and wished you would too. He looked at me and I saw your eyes and now my heart cries. . He held me the way you don't and I wondered why you won't. He said nice things but my heart wouldn’t sing. And when he laughed I heard my own laugh follow, yet my mirth was cold and hollow. And when he touched me I wished it was you making me want to touch you too. All this time wasted with another, not worth the bother, not worth the pain, I'd rather be with you again. A very emotional and real write. Why do we humans pine over someone who chooses not to be with us. We want the forbidden or what can't be ours. Well expressed!

Richard, I think it's a learning experience that we must go through before we find that ONE who loves and appreciates us and makes us so happy that we realize that those previous failures were worth it just to know how lucky we are NOT to have ended up with one of them. lol And, it's just in our DNA. I think it's part of that survival thing which yearns for more improvement, adventure and change. If we didn't want what we seemingly can't have, we might never have gone to the moon! :)

I really love this, Carol. It's AWESOME. I was wanting to see an ing on the word follow, to rhyme with sing above it! Anyway, this is a delight!!

Well, Andrea, thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it. However, "sing rhymes with "thing(s)" and "follow" rhymes with "hollow". But, I appreciate your suggestion anyway. :) Carole Duet

The harsh reality of settling with the wrong person. Regrets are many and the memory does not fade. Beautifully penned Carole. 7 ; )

I accidentally stumbled upon your poems, and now I found this one, so true... I love this poem, but it's so sad the same time! I hope you found that love in the end.

It is hard to replace that one true love, but it can happen and when it does the past will be just that, the past.

This is amazing. It just screams pain (which it a good thing) and emotion. The feeling of absence tears you apart, I can feel it.
