Notes About The Poem

He Protects Me

My Lord and Father, the great I AM,
I ask you to heed my tears and fears
To see me in my great distress, despair
To lead me away from the enemy’s
Evil chains and whips – plotting to take
Away my joy and hope and inspiration
Please protect me from the evil one, oh Lord

You are the strong and mighty armor
The one who guards my heart and soul
You make a way where no way is shown
And guide me through the pain and sorrow
Into the joy and assurance of tomorrow
You help me to overcome the storms
And give me a chance to feel safe from harm

I believe every word in your book, the Bible
And ask you to cover me in your redeeming blood
So that I have nothing to fear from the enemy
Who goes to and fro, seeking whom he may devour
I believe you will keep me safe from this foe
Your endless grace reassures my trembling soul
That your light will guide me through the darkness

You are worthy of all my praise and adoration
I love you from the depths of my soul and spirit
You are wise and wonderful and a welcome help
In times of trouble you cast your net of love around
Covering me with your sweetest mercies and grace
Reminding me that I am always loved beyond my sin
More than I can ever hope to give back, you give to me.

Thank you, dear heavenly Father – I love you always

Hi Regina, What a heartfelt and inspirational write you have penned. I agree with Victor, this does look like a Psalm. I like the book of Psalms but Psalms 91 is my favorite. I like Ps 23 too. Your faith and heart for God shines bright in this piece. PS, when you get the chance read my poem "Missionary And The Bum. Have a great night:-) Alexis
