He Had Doubts
He had doubts
His halo now a brooding nimbus
A smudged pencil drawing gone awry
When challenged
Asked if he knew the man
His strength had withered
His believe a darkening aura
Fading in denial’s
Seeping darkness
He stood
A traitor, a betrayer,
Of all he knew to be
And heard these words
Spoken by the betrayed
“for thou art Peter
And upon this “rock”
I shall build my church.”
Perhaps his weakness
Had exposed his humanity
And his humanity
Unveiled his strength
