He Gave Her a Book
He gave her a book
and a feather to mark the pages.
It was the story of his life…
the book, too.
Only once, the courage
to approach the pain,
broach the barriers to reveal
his love in verse, her memories.
He gave her a book though she never asked,
her name was Eros, chapter one is a song.
Important to him…to make her cry,
she needs to know, to remember,
so the healing can begin.
It was raw and emotional,
sweet with the bitter, angry and erotic,
it was all there in stages
and somewhere beneath the sultry sycamore
and the charismatic sky, two lovers kissed
too deep to die, the reason for
“Roses On The Moon”,
his reason why, but now,
his muse is mist.
For the contest by Mystic Rose Rose
