He and She

He and She

  HE
was born of a select elite
of servants, maids and special cooks
and he would read his pertinent books
so he could enter Harvard soon
to excel and reach the moon

SHE

wished to marry into wealth
her supple body filled with health
she set her thoughts to hatch a plan
her mind fell on this Harvard man
although she was not of his clan

HE

gave his wealth to indigents
to seek life as a wandering sage
to spend his life and live in tents
and survive on a living wage
a woman loved him so he wed

SHE

who thought that she had married well
had no clue her spouse would derail
the plans she’d hatched, what would she do now
the dreams she had they all are through
her love for him had never been true
