Hazy Evening Mist
In that stillness of a meadow
Quite uncanny yet deep,
When birds were mute and every tree
Gasped feebly… all asleep,
Throughout one hazy evening mist
Along my grief’s replay;
The tempo of the air echoed
From crackled weeds that day.
For in the hush so absolute
Which murmured soft…unclear
I heard a drawl of fog wafting
Only my soul could hear :
A rustle through the pewter leaves
A quiver on the knoll…
Eyes paused for just ahead of me ,
This vision seemed to stroll.
O form of my late love emerged
Consoling time’s ordeal ;
He was the very spirit of
That gentle meadow feel.
