Have I Told You I Love You

somehow,

i think that telling you i love you isn’t enough.

it seems impossible, to describe the way my chest feels when i hear you laugh or the way my face lights up,
almost automatically
when i hear you say my name

in just three little words.

it’s indescribable, really, the way my breath hitches when your face blooms into a smile,
and the way my heart pounds when your eyes crinkle as you do.

but i will condemn my affection, because telling you i love you,
as little as it seems,
is always worth the reaction.
