Hard To Understand
What do you do when friends lie to you,
how do you make the hurt go away?
And what compels you to hold the truth,
pretending you believe all they say?
How harsh should you respond to deceit,
when it's your best friend pulling the strings.
And why settle for coming in last,
even an angel comes with wings?
It seems no good deed goes unpunished,
often over and over again.
For bleeding hearts make such good targets,
able to absorb plenty of pain.
How do you say how you feel inside,
without drawing a line in the sand?
And when you say you don't want to change,
why is that so hard to understand?
