Happy the Clown

His fans amounted to a plethora. He appeared on television in Philadelphia. Happy the Clown made watching the tube fun. Many children considered him number one. Some clown makeup was worn by a disc jockey. It made him garner immense popularity. His program aired in the morning five days a week. Channel six was what I used to seek. With his marching sticks and his buddy Mr. Mike, he became someone a generation of kids would like. Happy is but a memory of a previous day. As so many others have, he has gone away.

There are some familiar faces I grew up with, that made my childhood joyful. I remember a few wonderful clowns, just as you described, who are now gone, but the memory still makes me smile.:)
