Happiness and Love

I have begun a new journey
To experience the commencement
of change, my infinite potential 
A need to savor this life..
Venture beyond the general 
consensus of who I am 
reaching for who I will be....

I need to bare my soul 
breaking down my identities.....
What do I see?...
What embodies me?..
Is it a collection of 
my lessons I've amassed?....
Ones I've put my own spin on
making them each unique 
and I my own....? 

So many characters 
I've played in life?...
a mother, a lover, a friend, 
a daughter...
all my personalities?..
I'm so tired of self imposed 
limitations, I need no more....
This year brought me a 
new chance to do this right... 

I will grab what life has to offer 
along with my learned lessons,
and not just one personality...
I will merge all my characters 
Into one, so I can become better 
than who i was
Become my future not my past.....
To find my true happiness.....
Become the true warrior I claim to be.....
Embrace her and soften her... 
Opening her up to happiness 
and a love....

This really is a very good piece of poetry, Brenda...I was compelled to read it through twice. I have to say there is a sense of an underlying strength about it all; you know how much I prefer your "upbeat" poetry...this has all those characteristics that your best poetry contains: that resolute grittiness, a prevailing mood of cheerfulness and steadfastness -- makes for great reading! Enjoyed immensely. Lots of affection always. :) john

I enjoyed this philosophical piece. For me I will embrace my now for I will never be this same person ever again. I hope my future self looks back fondly on who I am. Blessing Rick.
