Hang

Happy pretending
Love never ending
Heart that was pure
Worthy of mending
Clinging to hope
Tying the rope
Pleading with tears
Grabbing my throat
Kicking the chair
Gasping for air
Leaving the note
Ending despair
That part of me gone
Went out with a bang
It served me no more
I left it to hang

I would probably have labeled this rhyme but it could also be free verse. It fits in both categories pretty well. Amazing what you have managed to do in so few words.
