Halloween Night
Halloween brings goblins and scary dreams
mixed with candies, chuckles, and distant screams.
Children dressed in costumes chant, "trick-or-treat,"
working their neighborhood from street to street.
Next to Christmas, it's the best time of year,
a festival of fantasy and fear.
Outlandish getups attract young and old,
and a treasure in treats rewards the bold.
When fairies and witches knock at sunset,
offer them candy, or they'll get upset.
And teenage tricksters carry bars of soap
to scribble on windows, acting so dope.
Real monsters emerge after midnight;
stalking the shadows and avoiding the light.
Zombies and vampires crawling from fresh graves;
feast on the brains and blood of fools and knaves.
Beware the demons the Devil lets loose;
if they approach you, you'd better vamoose.
On Halloween, evil spirits roam free,
and they're scarier than they ought to be.
