Hues of mahogany vein through
Whitest ashen gray, filling me with
A feeling of pure inspiration, vision
On this still, shadowy nocturnal vista
The mist edges across the perfectly
Round mystery of the ebony darkness
Reminding me that historically, this
Eve was called all hallowed, Halloween
For me, the beauty of the smooth and
Graceful piece of our nightly prediction
Is the way that it shifts across the hills
A perfect elation, sent to light the night
Through trees, across the dark ridges
Of mountains, oh, so secretive and healing
There stands the apparition of a snowy
Dreamlike image, an enormous full moon
Auditioning for its place among the stars
Where evening calls out with nighttime sounds
Little reasonings from the seasons creatures
Beckoning to the moon with all their pleas
Ominous, it is, oh, yes, this gorgeous scene
Significant to all who chance to look beyond
The trees and limbs that hang across her
Sending shivers of premonition for what is to come
The Halloween moon, when full, is a marvel
Reaching out to the apprehensive heart
With second thoughts about venturing out
Among the nightly beauties that are so bright
