Hallowed hugs
The night is warm, for once, and the day isn't the only sunlight. The moon be full and hopeful, but the calm air isn't missed. Every whisper and every breeze is taken into the very cells of your body. Closed eyes and humming from the lips, the proof you need to know that maybe things are going to be ok. The small talk no longer seems heavy, while the background conversations are no longer loud. You can melt the very heart of the past into this one moment. Slowly turning your neck as it cracks gently, the relief washes over you like a warm cloth. You take deep breaths that make you feel more loved than even the biggest hug from the person you've lost. Your whole day is just a memory. You feel nothing but calm, love, and the touch of the wind on your skin feels goosebumps.
You hear the shudder of the trees, the pavement clicks as you walk. You feel the moon on your face, the hair on your arms tickles as the wind blushes by, you walk into a park where the lamps flicker. Some benches are made of metal and wood. You put one hand on the arm of the center bench, where the lamp seems to be the strongest. As you sit, you take a breath with which you've felt so much comfort. The night is just beginning, so you tie your shoes and stretch your shoulders, Limbs stiff and heavy from the images that plagued your past self, who couldn't see a way out of. The basics of birth, live, play, work, and survive. The processes are taxing, but the time you spend on that bench transfers the hardship to the cold ground. You take your shoes off and rub your feet while mentally coaching yourself that one day, this very moment will be your motivation. Something so small and yet so needed, the friends catch up to you, but they're not there for you. They're there for the bench. You open your eyes, and they aren't there. You're not alone, though, because the trees and the breeze are whispering the love that can't be seen or felt physically. It's a warmth that people like you can only feel when the world stops or slows down.
The minute you put your shoes on, you can feel the world coming back to you, as you sit up and stand you slowly feel dizzy, the night is ready. You take your time and then you get back to it, your people ask you where were you? You tell them that you just needed a hug from someone who's always there.
