Anne-Lise, a nice haiku. I love mushrooms but would never try to forage for them in the woods due to too many poisonous ones.

Delicacy in one hand poisonous, the other; I don't know the difference between both. You are a word wizard, just like your paintings. I feel an artist can really describe more feelings in a scene. Hugs eve

Well, since I don't know my mushrooms apart except what I see in the grocery store, it would be better if I left them quite alone to continue to grow and reproduce. Creative work that I enjoyed reading the photo was very colorful. I like stir fried or sauteed' mushrooms with some half and half poured in there which I could make a soup, but I usually put it in green bean casserole. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

I love your words "poisonous dopple gangers"! I always worry about that very thing when I eat mushrooms! :)

Indeed! Unwholesome always tries to imitate the good. Well said, Anne. Brilliant in fact!

Dear Anne-Lise, That middle line"poisonous doppelgangers" is doing all the work, turning a cozy autumn meal into something dangerous. The way you set up the reward (delicacy, tasty stew) on either side of the risk captures exactly what foraging is. Knowledge is the only thing between you and disaster. I grew up on a farm, and we would often pick wild mushrooms having that knowledge. Autumn Blessings, Dear Anne-Lise, Daniel

- When I was a kid, no one ate mushrooms... it was never used as a food source... now it's very popular - One must have knowledge about what is safe to eat - Thanks for your comment, Daniel :) - hugs
