Haiku Snapshots
Haikus are little snapshots.
Haikus inspire.
A haiku is a glimpse
through a crack in the wall,
our personal wall of illusion
that allows us to peer at
reality for just a moment
seventeen syllables at a time-
then it goes dark again.
All the lily ponds, creatures,
rocks, seas, sunsets and concepts
that are written about
depict merely a glint
of the expanse of nature.
If you could stack all the haikus
into a colossal bundle
for all past, present and future
it'd only be a peek at universal reality-
fourteen billion light years across.
To observe reality
it would take billions upon billions
of such snapshots:
understanding this is
the beginning of understanding.
