I think they must sing at night as well. LOL..I went out on the porch the other morning/night at about 4:20 A.M. and I believe the stars were singing because there were so many insects carrying on their concert. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

Their noise is from legs rubbing wings, chirpy sounds. What a refreshing poem and such intricate detail (the grasshopper).

It was enjoyable reading this fine haiku, which also told me something I didn't know, which is that grasshoppers make sounds. I find the sound to be slightly similar to cricket sounds. Blessings, Evelyn
