Late September / early October is my favorite time of year to be outdoors. Nature is closing up shop but still open for business: colors changing, the air is crisp, the days are still long, the skies are beautiful. Ah, your haiku pair has brought me back to some happy memories. I can almost smell the campfire and hear the crickets. "Sunset steals day’s warmth", indeed! Love this, my poetry friend! ~ John

Indeed, John! The Fall is my favorite time of the year, as well! The colors, harvests, flowers, foliage, crisp air, deep blue skies, ever inspire me, as does the insightful beauty of your comments, which are held in my truest appreciation. I'm glad my poem brought back some happy memories for you :)) Thank you for being such a wonderful poetry friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

Ah, my dear friend, in finding your presence here, I always find a smile as well. "Such a perfect comment, Kurt", Susan said, as she handed him the marsh mellows on a stick.. "there's nothing sweeter than roasted marsh mellows except maybe your poetry," she added... I will catch up with your lustrous poetry one of these days... but very busy with life's curve balls lately.. Thank you, Kurt, for your awesome and uplifting visit :)) Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

This would have been great even by itself, Susan. "goldenrod plumes nod as twilight shows off the stars - the fire pit crackles" Your imagery sparkles and crackles!

That first line, 'oak's coy hint of red' -- magnifique! I want to brand it into the dendrites of the haiku-compartment of my brain, where it will be etched permanently and serve as a beacon of brightest illumination to guide me on the path of poignantly penned future 'kus.' Warmest wishes always, Gershon (P.S. Press one if you think this was a positive comment. Press two if you think it was neutral. Press three... LOL). Cheers, gw
