Notes About The Poem

Entry for POETRY IS IN THE HOUSE  Poetry Contest: Sponsored by: Nette Onclaud Date wrote 6th Nov 25

Gutter

Each fall it filled with leaves,
each year, the two of them
would climb up to the eaves
clear the golden blanket;
not this year, or the next;
and no one knows, or grieves.

It is possible that gutters get filled with fallen leaves in autumn. Beautifully composed. Congratulations on your win, Terry.

This is fine entry for Nette's contest, methinks. The story you've created in just a few lines has me thinking deeply. Kind of like 'Eleanor Rigby' by the Beatles -- only it took them more lines and a great song to pt the idea over. I guess that makes you the 'Fifth Beatle.' ... Yes, I know: Forget titles and honors; send along their $$$$. lol, Gershon
