Guilt
Do I my life possess
Or does it possess me
A constricting dress
That fits me badly?
I am held and molded
By invisible weight
And by it enfolded
And cannot escape.
Laid down before me
Little to call my own
Of the human story
And its refrain.
Partners in a dance
They hope to touch me
Listener for once
Because they love me.
I try to pretend
They are not unknown
But I am at the end
Turned to rag and bone.
