Grilled Cheese

Days melt like grilled cheese Hot humid events stick to people or peeps So much to ponder of old of new Still thoughts drift back to who? On your mind was it a chase Of heart the one who got away Was it a joy one you made That in time grew into another thing great? Was it remembering a friend who passed Who's humor still fresh gives laughs Was it a pet so loyal and true That your mind unwinds drifts to? Was it the little ones at that age When pitter patter were normal days Or a loved family member Who never forgets what you cannot remember? Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup What memory does that give to you?

This poem brought back memories for me of Vermont in the summer, craft fairs, fishing, warm rains and my aunt and me doing the crossword at the lake also ironically the grilled cheese and tomato soup I had a the diner two weeks ago! This was so pretty and clever. I've read it over and over. I loved it so much.
