Greyheaded Dreams

old women still have dreams
so they lie restlessly
in soft single beds 
away from mirrors 
that fracture their expectations;

they turn towards walls 
where cracks can be smoothed 
with shaking fingers 
and shadows can be reshaped 
into ageless promise...
