Green Gold

I got me feet
dippin’ in de cool, Amazon waters of Ecuador,
waiting fo’ de day-o boat
Goin’ twen’y miles down river,
into de jungle
Goin’ ta git de green gold
Get dem bananas ‘fore dey turn ripe
Yellow ain’t de sight me wanna see
Dis is how me make me money
Pick dat green gold right off de tree
Green be de color of money, si
De green help me feed me family
And when on de job,
I do eat a few yellow ones too,
dey be me lunchin’ fee
And when de work is done,
we have boat full by settin’ sun
Ready ta ship de green gold
ta dem good payin’ gringos

I love bananas but I know those people only make a few cents a day. They also have to deal with those deadly banana spiders. High risk job with no benefits. I love the poem Freddie. I just don't people working for nothing.

I enjoyed both the topic and its delivery, Freddie. Hopefully they get paid well enough to make up for all their hard work! I'm one of those who keep the business going...I love bananas:) Regards // paul
