Green
I look upon this lovely scene,
reflections mirrored in the stream.
A sanctuary of calm delight,
where all is safe; peaceful and bright.
I yearn to lay upon the hill,
with arms outstretched and stay real still.
To fix my gaze upon the sky,
and watch the white clouds pass me by.
I’d drift into a perfect dream,
as I surround myself with green.
With eyes now closed and for a while,
let tranquil beauty me beguile.
No thoughts disturb my peaceful time,
this newfound freedom will be mine.
My cares and worries drift on by,
my soul replenished as I lie.
My body with the earth as one,
a new beginning has begun.
I’ll cast aside my outer shell,
and build my inner strength as well.
Just like a butterfly I’ll change,
a metamorphic re-arrange.
The rebirth of myself I will,
emerge renewed to feel the thrill.
Arise refreshed and with a smile,
I’d sit and ponder for a while.
About this place that I have found -
it’s solitude, without a sound.
No greater gift I could not find,
this captured memory in my mind.
A glimpse of heaven I have seen,
while lying on the hill of green.
