Greedy Geese

Geese flock around a still green pond
jolting each other out of the way
honking loudly, wide wings flap
open beaks hungry
for a crumb of bread.

I just reread this poem Nancy and it takes on a whole new meaning for me. It seems as if you are speaking about the men who fight over a woman for just a moments attention. In answer to your question to me below, yes I have. White geese in particular are incredibly cruel as are swans.

Thank you for the insight into the meaning of your writing this. A very interesting metaphor. Poems are amazing things that can be interpreted in many ways. I find myself sometimes trying to be clever with a write and after reading the comments, I find that I have just been vague. Often I read comments that make me see my own poems in an interesting new light. I've seen some very strange things involving animals. I mentioned a while back in a comment to someone seeing an ostrich running down a grass median on a multi lane highway in NC.

I like your insight. I have a flock of Geese around my place here, they come and go. Once I saw two Swans on a busy highway, a woman actually got out of her car and was trying to keep them from getting hit, most bizarre animal-related situation I have ever seen. The poem was a comment on government/ big business. How they take any money they can get no matter how small, doesn't even matter if you don't have any. Please share any more thoughts you have :)
